How to Make, Use, and Upgrade an Epic Homemade Mini Bow and Arrow
In this video, I will teach you how to not only make my best homemade miniature bow and arrow to date, but also how to shoot it and upgrade it for even better performance. This mini bow outperforms my previous bows in terms of accuracy, durability, and simplicity/ease of creation. It's amazingly accurate for such a tiny bow and arrow!
The cost of making this bow is VERY cheap - less than 25 cents in raw materials! It makes a great Christmas present for all ages, and a fun desk ornament to eliminate those times of mental block and boredom.

    I want to do my 48" roll straight on, no strips and no spirals. I'm still trying to figure out an 8" mandrel that will release, and a few other things. I found a source of paper. This will be way better than buying Tubes at Home Depot, which come in such different sizes, and are bulky to transport.

    • @trumpatier
      @trumpatier Рік тому

      Ahh ok. That sounds fun! It's going to be really difficult though. I would probably look up some tips on getting it to roll perfectly straight so the paper doesn't end up diagonal. A mandrel - I never thought about that. That would probably help a lot. If they don't exist, you might be able to design and 3D print one!

  • @stargazer2042
    @stargazer2042 Рік тому

    I'd want to start with thicker paper unless it costs more. It would leave a seam, but that is not too bad.

    • @trumpatier
      @trumpatier Рік тому

      True. A seam should be fine. I haven't really tested seamless vs seam, and kraft vs masking paper layers as I don't have the proper equipment to do so. But I think the only major differences would probably be in the aesthetics and aerodynamics of the tube. Seamless tubes are nicer to look at and incur less aerodynamic drag, but I'm not sure to what extent.

  • @stargazer2042
    @stargazer2042 Рік тому

    I wonder if PVC works as well as stainless steel. It would need to be smooth. Still worrisome if it is tight.

    • @trumpatier
      @trumpatier Рік тому

      I think I did make some convolute tubes with PVC as a form. It worked pretty well, but the one downside was that cutting the paper tube while on the form creates gauges that make it harder to remove. But if you take anti-stick measures, it should work great!

  • @stargazer2042
    @stargazer2042 Рік тому

    I'm deciding whether to make my own 8"×48" tubes at home or pay shipping for several. Doing it at home is less bulky, but requires a little set up.

    • @trumpatier
      @trumpatier Рік тому

      Those are some big tubes! It would probably be much cheaper to make them at home, but also hard to cut nice lines in that long of a piece of paper

    • @trumpatier
      @trumpatier Рік тому

      Thanks! Honestly I'm not sure. I think it would be possible if you cut the paper strips in a VERY specific way. Rectangular strips get really wonky around corners. I would test it right now but unfortunately I don't have a rectangular form to use.

  • @RayDoeksen
    @RayDoeksen Рік тому

    You can find some decent youtube tutorials for cutting tubes that are a little more reliable than going by eye: either cutting guides that slip over the tube, or angle-stock and an end-stop for reliable repeatable lengths and good 90 degree ends.

    • @trumpatier

  • @RayDoeksen

    Thin glue is better than thicker glue, within reason. You don't want to have "structural glue" but rather good penetration and fully cured glue without lumps.

    • @trumpatier
      @trumpatier Рік тому

      That makes sense I guess - in the case with thin glue you'd be relying on just the strength of the paper layered with itself. I think with thicker glue, you also get some strength from the glue. But you also add weight that way. However, with masking paper, using thin glue is very difficult due to how quickly it absorbs water and how weak it is when wet.
